Hello everyone. I just wanted to blog about the Red Neck Festival I went to this weekend in Ohio.
It was a benefit put on for a NO KILL SHELTER for animals rescued from being euthenized. I wanted to let everyone know it was a good time. It was the 7,8,9 it cost us 25.00 a person for the whole weekend to camp .
I went with my husband,my friends Bruce and Chris, my mom, dad, brother , my cousin and her boyfriend. we got there on Friday and set up then just wandered around checking out the vendors there .They had some really interesting food like polish food, ice cream stand, 2 Fat Guys BBQ, elephant ears, fried veggies,Gyros, and wow just so much yummy stuff to eat.
After breakfast we decided to do some fishing in the 4 acre pond they had with my dad, mom, and brother. As we were fishing a newspaper reporter came and interviewed us a bit on his way around the festival .
The night went on into listening to a good friend of ours who volunteered to DJ for the benefit and they were just great everyone loved them. On Saturday we all pitched in and made a redneck breakfast over the fire with eggs, toast, side pork and homemade sausage patties YUM.
Then around 12 the fire trucks came to fill up the pits for the mud bogging tracks. The next thing we did was at about 1 they called for everyone to sign up for the mud pit volleyball ,(which I entered with my friend Chris) It was such a blast being in knee high water playing with 12 other people volleyball.
As we were playing a friendly bullfrog and its friend decided to join us. OH SO FUNNY. We ended up kicking butt we won 4 games and lost 1.
The next game was mud pit tug of war. It consisted of a pit about 12 foot long and 8 feet wide and about 5 foot deep filled about 4 foot with mud and water. I also played that with my friend Chris and a bunch of other people which we ended up winning 5-1 in that game .
I also ventured into tug of war 1-1 with a guy and without even cheating I KICKED BUTT!!! He was a tough one though he didnt want to lose to a girl . After the mud pit tug of war we listened to a bit of music from the radio station and waited for the mud bog pits to get ready. At about 4 i think we all went over to sign up to do the mud bog pits with my friends Bruce,Chris and my husband. We had a good run but the suzuki got to the last pit and the exhaust manifold ended up breaking so we had to finish early and take it back to camp but Chris and my husband continued on with several rounds against another truck and kicked butt. Over the weekend we ended up having to pull out about 15 vehicles with our friends suzuki due to the rain we got over the weekend.
We met so many kool people over the weekend also and let me just say some were more redneck than i ever did see. TRUE BLUE REDNECKS!! Well we also checked out all the great animals they had rescued in the shelter too they had some really different ones . The cats were in a huge play yard with this giant rabbit that probably weighed a good 20 pounds it was ENORMOUS!! In the kittens room they had a huge kitty castle play thing and a twin sized bed with blankets and such for them to share.
All of the dogs had big play yards and some even had play buddies with them that shared there yards.I just have to say it was a good time overall and even though we had a few things go wrong and few things were a little disorganized it was for a GREAT cause and if they have it again next year and so forth i would LOVE to go back.
Wow! It sounds like you had a great time! That mud volleyball sounds so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe next year I can talk Chris into going, if we can find a sitter!
I want to see some pictures girl!
